The University of Labour is a fully accredited and state-approved University of Applied Sciences founded in 2021 and the first university in Europe run by trade unions. As a university that promotes participation and democracy at the workplace, we aim to provide knowledge that empowers our students in their current job and encourages them to shape their future in the sense of a just and democratic society. Thus, we take a clear stance in research and teaching: Solidarity and social sustainability are our guiding principles.
The aim of our research is to understand the complex changes in society and employment, to put these findings into a larger context, and to make a visible contribution to changing businesses, politics and society. We take an active part in the development of innovative research on industrial relations combining perspectives of social sciences, economics, labour policy, labour law and vocational education. Our research approach is explicitly interdisciplinary.
